Effects of Alcohol Abuse

The effects of alcohol abuse can be devastating. The reality is that there is no such thing as good addiction. Every form and kind of addiction could leave a person depressed, lost and empty. Researchers need not prove or disprove anything about the reality of any form of addiction. We only have to see examples of individuals who have gone through it.

Addiction can start to set in when a person is unable to face their problems. No matter how strong an individual seems to be they can fall prey to this habit. While it is true that each can have some sort of addiction like gaming, television, food, chocolates, toys, collections and many other things, there are still those types of addictions that are more destructive.

Alcohol, meth, opium, marijuana, pornography are some of the worst types of addiction. Not only can they destroy a person, they can also create havoc for others. The effects of alcohol abuse are tremendous. It can be seen in the number of vehicular accidents everyday due to the inability of some to not drive while intoxicated.

The effects of alcohol abuse can also be seen in uncontrollable behavior of celebrities as well as common individuals in the community. An alcohol dependent can find it hard to decide for themselves. Their focus can be lost and they can be unable to decide. Creating well thought out decisions is different from those actions that have been done on the spur of the moment.

If a person does something because they are too drunk, that can hardly be called an accomplishment. Most of the time the actions that have been done are not guided and the consequences may have been unintentional. There are thousands of unwanted pregnancies because of teenage intoxication and alcohol abuse. While it is true that life is important and that giving birth is not a crime, we also need to understand that parenting needs to be done by someone who is able to take control over their lives. Teenagers who are always drunk could hardly find the time to put their life in order and know their identity.

An alcoholic in this sense can lose the faculties to choose well. They can become trapped and defined by alcohol itself.

Alcohol abuse is self defeating in the end. One’s identity can be lost in the process. Though they might think that the effects of alcohol abuse help them get through the day, this still is a limited in perspective.

In reality, alcohol does not improve or solve anything in the person’s life. It only helps them escape the problem for some time. When they go back to their daily life and become sober again, they would still feel empty and lost.

The aim then is to remove this habit and to face one’s circumstances squarely. If one is not seeking for the answers how would they be able to find it?

This is why alcohol abuse needs to be let go in order for clarity and vitality to come through. Life is short. Just imagine if a loved one loses his life just because of alcohol. It is thus a duty to find a way to solve this and help alcoholics out.
