Why is rehab so scary?
Myth
Many people find the idea of going into rehab vary scary. The word rehab gives the notion that you are trapped in a place with no ability to leave and have no control over your own decisions. This is far from true, as rehab isn’t a prison or a psychiatric institute!
Fact
Most places that offer alcohol rehab are completely voluntary and you can walk in and out as you wish. The scariest part is the idea of going somewhere new where you must deal with your real issues and share your intimate problems with others. However, most people find this very easy to get over and realise that it in fact helps them get better and improve their life by sharing with those that know what they are going through.
Where do you get rehab?
There are many places where you can get rehab. People often get the impression that rehab is only available at medical institutions such as hospitals, but this is more often not the case. There are also many names used for places that offer treatment (for our purposes, we will use clinic), and they are all similar in nature:
- retreat
- clinic
- centre
- spa
- institute
